Statement of purpose
Teaching and self-exploration are mutually beneficial, both embracing making as the universal infrastructure of creative production. The sparking of ideas and enthusiasm encompasses all abilities and often follows unexpected pathways.
I left Farnham School of Art with a degree in Ceramics and Etching. Making Porcelain Dolls and China for Dolls House stockists in Britain and America preceded a period working at West Meon Pottery, Hampshire, making my own work for domestic use and helping with architectural ceramic restoration projects. An invitation to work at Surrey Institute of Art and Design began a relationship with West Street Potters that saw a move to Farnham Pottery.
I continue working as a tutor with West Street Potters, bringing added value by facilitating events for all in the community. Successful funding applications to local and national bodies has enabled people to take advantage of a marvellous resource.
